Anime Expo 2009 Coverage
What better way to show your American patriotism this 4th of July weekend than to celebrate the culture and industry of another country? Yes, it’s that time of year again to replace your stars and stripes with red meatballs and sun beams. Anime Expo 2009 is in town once again. Being an old-timer veteran of the convention, my streak ran from 1997 through 2002, and it’s been a long 7 years that I’m now finally coming back to this old misstress. The crazy cosplayers in the Masquerade, the long-running Anime Music Video Contest (yours truly was a 1998 semi-finalist) and let us not forget the most amount of HENTAI all housed under one roof. Pay dirt. Ahh, I can almost smell the geek grease… But who am I kidding? Despite my 7-year denial stint, I’ve finally come back, wearing my old otaku badge proudly once again. I’m quite excited for this year’s AX. It will be interesting to see the changes and advancements to the con in my absence.
Steadily growing each year, this marks the first time the long-running con has graced the halls of the LA Convention Center. Zeljamin and myself will be all over the on-going con, so keep it here for our in-depth coverage.
